Apprentice pay in the metal and electrical industry
Apprentices in the metal and electrical industry receive a collectively agreed apprentice pay (Ausbildungsvergütung) that depends on the year of training and rises each year. Unlike the regular ERA pay, a few special rules apply.
Pay by year of training
Apprentice pay – like the rest of the tariff pay – is set per region and adjusted at every bargaining round. For Baden-Württemberg the following monthly amounts currently apply:
| Year of training | Monthly salary |
|---|---|
| 1. Jahr | €1,303.50 |
| 2. Jahr | €1,377.50 |
| 3. Jahr | €1,488.50 |
| 4. Jahr | €1,563.00 |
The values for your region are in the pay scales under the “Ausbildung” row.
Special rules for the extra payments
Apprentices are subject to their own rules:
- No Leistungszulage: apprentices do not receive the percentage performance supplement.
- Special T-Zug B rule: for T-Zug B, apprentices get a separate flat amount instead of the full percentage of the Eckentgelt.
- Holiday and Christmas pay, by contrast, are generally due to apprentices.
After the apprenticeship
On being taken on, you are placed into a regular pay grade – usually depending on the role you take after qualifying. You can model your resulting annual salary in the salary calculator.
